MEET THE TEAM
Susanne has worked for Dr Rahman for over seven years. Having a special interest in statistical analysis the role of Financial Administrator at Visage keeps Susanne extremely busy. During her time with Dr Rahman Susanne has gained much experience through continued professional development. Although much of her time is taken up with administration duties, Susanne thrives on teamwork and enjoys meeting our clients at our many social events.
Pauline brings to Visage a wealth of Customer Service experience which she utilises in her role as Receptionist / Secretary at Visage. Pauline’s focus on customer care and attention to detail is consistent in all aspects of her contact with Visage clients. She has an excellent rapport with all Visage clients making her a very popular member of the Visage team.
In her role as Reception Manager at Visage, Kymberly ensures that every visitor receives a very warm welcome. Kymberly combines her ‘First Class’ customer care experience gained through many years within the private medical sector and her professional, warm and friendly manner to make sure that your visit to Visage is a memorable one. Kymberly is also our Business Development Coordinator and enjoys developing relationships and promoting all of the services offered at Visage.
Mr Scott is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon with experience in most areas of plastic and reconstructive surgery. The use of microsurgical techniques in both acute and elective procedures has been extensive, allowing the acquisition of considerable ability in this area. Breast reconstructive surgery is his chosen area of subspecialty interest and he has already established experience with all the contemporary techniques of breast reconstruction. Mr Scott first qualified at Dundee University in 1988. He has had several plastic surgery posts both in Glasgow and Edinburgh since qualifying and has been involved in a number of research projects and publications. He is currently Consultant Plastic Surgeon in the Royal Canniesburn Unit and has been with Visage since the launch of the new Plastic Surgery Unit at the beginning of 2007.
Mr Devlin is a consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who has a specialist interest in Cleft lip and Palate surgery. He qualified in both dentistry and medicine at the University of Glasgow. His general and maxillofacial training was undertaken in the West of Scotland and North East of England. Additional training for Cleft Surgery was undertaken in South Thames Cleft Unit. His NHS practice involves the assessment and surgical management of complex facial deformity including soft tissue abnormality, facial skeletal deformity and nasal deformity (both congenital and acquired). Mr Devlin has also been awarded and completed a Clinical Research Fellowship by Chief Scientist in Scotland to study nasal deformity in cleft children in Scotland. Other awards include the Scientific medal for best research paper at 2005 Cranio Conference and the TC White prize Lecturer award at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow 2005.
Mr John Jeffrey Downie is a consultant Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon/ Facial Plastic Surgeon. He is also Honorary Senior Lecturer at Glasgow University.
Mr Downie graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1991 with distinctions in Bachelor of Dental Surgery. Following that, he obtained a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Dundee in 1997. He has also been awarded Fellowships in Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons London, Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh and Royal College of Surgeons Glasgow in 2000, 2005 and 2007 respectively. In addition, he has received many distinction awards in areas such as Anatomy, Prosthetics and Radiology.
His special interests lie in facial aesthetic and reconstructive surgery and he is currently one of two lead clinicians, who are developing a national program for facial transplantation also known as composite tissue allografting. In his private practice his interests include all aspect of oral-facial surgery especially rhitidectomy (face lifts), facial rejuvenation and the use of fillers and botulinum toxins to name a few.
Mr Downie is a member of a variety of organizations including the British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgeons. He is widely published and has presented in many international meetings as well as involved in the creation and facilitation of many training courses.
Stephen qualified from the University of Dundee in 2000. Since then he has gained experience working in both a hospital and practice setting.
Stephen has undertaken a variety of postgraduate education, including the Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties qualification and a Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Dental Care at the University of Edinburgh. Since then he has concentrated on Endodontics, completing a Higher Training in Endodontics course at the University of Newcastle and becoming a Dentpsly Maillefer Trainer. He has completed a Masters Degree in Endodontology at the University of Central Lancashire. Stephen accepts endodontic referrals in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
He is actively involved in postgraduate education through running Section 63 and Vocational Training endodontic courses at Edinburgh Postgraduate Dental Institute, and running courses on endodontics for Dentsply. Stephen is also employed by the University of Edinburgh as an Online Tutor on their Distance Learning Primary Dental Care Msc programme.
Stephen Martin carries out the endodontic treatment at the practice with the aid of a microscope and extensive modern endodontic equipment. He accepts referrals for all types of endodontic treatment, including apical surgery.
Our Hygienist, Alison McLean graduated from Glasgow Dental School in 1999 where she won the clinical prize in her graduating year. She has maintained her postgraduate education by gaining qualifications in anaesthesiology, radiology and basic restorative dentistry. Alison is noted for her focus on results and meticulous attention to detail.
Having graduated with a BDS Hons in 2004, Aman was appointed as a consultant in orthodontics at the EDI and honorary senior lecturer for the University of Edinburgh in 2016.
Mrs Carol Devlin graduated from the University of Glasgow Dental School in 1993 (BDS) where she had the rare opportunity as an undergraduate to have her articles published in Peer Reviewed dental journals.
She then chose to follow a career in General Dental Practice working in Edinburgh and Glasgow prior to joining the team at Visage. Carol is committed to providing her patients with the highest standards of dental care using the latest technology and materials available. To ensure that she keeps abreast of the ever changing developments in dentistry she continues an ongoing program of professional development. Carol enjoys caring for all of our regular patients and her friendly, professional manner makes her particularly popular with younger patients. She has a special interest in preventative treatment, tooth whitening and metal free restorations including tooth coloured fillings, porcelain inlays and veneers.
Since graduating from the University of Glasgow in 2001 Dr Imran Shafi spent several years in general dentistry in the UK, before electing to spend a year in Australia where he gained experience of community dentistry, private practice & Aboriginal Health Services.
He then returned to the UK where he gained Membership to the Faculty of Dental Surgeons before being awarded a Doctorate in Clinical Orthodontics from the University of Glasgow. He was the first UK dental graduate to achieve this postgraduate degree, and this also won him two prestigious dental research awards. Finally Imran gained membership from the Royal College of Surgeons as a Specialist in the field of Orthodontics.
Specialising in tooth realignment, Imran is able to re-position crooked or overlapping teeth, as well as closing gaps between them. Through these skills, he has been able to give back confidence in their appearance to many hundreds of patients, as well as addressing the many side-effects of misaligned teeth and incorrect bite relationships.
Imran is a highly respected teacher and researcher in his field, having been published extensively and presenting at conferences both nationally and internationally.
Imran is an examiner for the Royal Colleges, a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, a member of the British Orthodontic Society and is registered as a specialist with the General Dental Council.
Dr Tariq Bashir graduated from the University of Glasgow Dental School in 2005 where he obtained many awards including the prestigious British Dental Association Student of the Year Award. He then went on to attain his MFDS from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow whilst completing various hospital training posts around Scotland. He joined the team at Visage in 2008 and since has pursued post graduate education at prestigious UK institutes. He has completed dental implantology training at Sheffield University and has gained a Post Graduate certificate from the University of Chester.
In his pursuit to continually elevate his skills further, he has as travelled extensively to learn the latest techniques and procedures from some of the most highly regarded dentists from around the world.
Dr Bashir’s interest lie in minimally invasive restorative treatment especially including composite bonding, Invisalign clear braces and CEREC cadcam one appointment restorations. He travels regularly to the USA for further training to be the best dentist he can be and give his patients the highest quality of dental care possible.
He is a member of the ITI (International Team for Implantology) and also actively involved with the BACD (British Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry) where he is a committee member and also the regional representative for Glasgow.
Dr Bashir was a clinical teacher at Glasgow Dental School for the last 3 years. He feels his time teaching undergraduate dental students helped him make a small contribution to the training of the next generation of dentists and imparting some of the knowledge and techniques he has learnt over the last decade.
Recognising the importance of giving back to the community, Dr Bashir helped set up the Dental Aid Network. This charity helps provide basic dental treatment to children around the world where access to such treatment is difficult.
Recently he was awarded Best Young Dentist Finalist Scotland at the Dentistry Awards in November 2015. The following month he was chosen as ‘Most Invaluable Team Member’ at the Private Dentistry Awards in London-the same night Visage were honoured to be named as the Best Private Practice UK!

Visage’s Clinical Director Dr Attiq Rahman graduated in 1994 from Glasgow University and immediately entered into general dental practice. He soon developed an interest in the emerging field of cosmetic dentistry and began a programme of further education which continues to this day. Hundreds of hours of postgraduate training with the very best cosmetic dentists in the world together with his own techniques have ensured that his patients receive the highest standards of care.
Dr Rahman is known as a perfectionist and an excellent communicator and this is reflected in his approach to his clinical work in which he has gained a reputation for meticulous attention to detail.
In 2007 he was recognised by his peers when he beat a field of 450 Cosmetic Dentists to win “Smile Makeover of the Year” at the Private Dentistry Awards in London. His forward thinking approach to dentistry has for many years placed him at the forefront of cosmetic dentistry in Scotland and his client list includes some of Scotland’s best known TV personalities.
He is also heavily committed to charitable work and has donated his services to “One 4 Kids”, “Zero Tolerance”, “National Children’s Hospice” “Scottish Spina Bifida Association” “Action Medical Research” and “The Women of Influence Awards”.
From opening its doors in November 2005 with six members of staff and no patients, Dr Rahman has lead Visage to unprecedented success. The clinic now boasts 20 staff and well over 11000 clients.
Avril has over 20 years of experience in dentistry and qualified as a Practice Manager in1998. She has worked in the field of Customer Service and Sales & Marketing and combines these skills with her Practice Management experience in her role at Visage.
Avril looks after the smooth day to day running of the clinic along with the support of our Head Nurse and Reception Manager. Having a passion for Customer Service she is constantly monitoring our services and the feedback from our patients to ensure that they have the best experience possible. Avril also enjoys supporting our patients in a Treatment Coordinator role. In addition, she has recently gained her Diploma in Dental Nursing so that she can fully support the clinical team as well as the Administration and Customer Service team members.
